Celebrating holidays on the ship is weird.

We celebrated by watching Megan hula hoop 5 hula hoops.

Before this attempt, she'd never hula hooped even one hula hoop before.

At 9:30, we had our Thanksgiving meal at the Japanese steak house.

The we went Black Friday shopping at the crew sale in the crew hallway.

On Friday in Cozumel, Brett and I met up with our dear friend Kennedy who was in Cozumel on another cruise ship.

We met her brother Kevin and he was a really great guy.

Sadly we did not get to see Kennedy's parents. They're really great people and I always enjoy spending time with them.

Today, the Christmas trees arrived.

They look kinda sad caged up there.

Holidays on ships are weird.

Goldfish and Pepperoni Bacon...

As promised, here's the photo of our new friends, John and Jovi. It was so nice to meet them. They came to all of our shows.

When we got on the ship last week we had a package waiting for us from Jeannie's dad.

It was a box full of my favorite snack.

Flavor Blasted Goldfish!

Look at all those bags of delicious cheddar goldfish. Amazing!

We were in New Orleans today. Every Friday we say we're absolutely not going to get beignets. Every Sunday we all say, "I know I said I wasn't going to get beignets, but I'm going anyway." And then, we all march over there.

It's becoming a an addictive and dangerous habit.

No big plans today, so we wandered around a bit. Every time I see a plaque, I stop and read it. I've found some really cool historical places by just wandering around and reading signs. I saw this sign today and it made me laugh.

Jeannie found a pizza place that she wanted to go to so we went there for lunch. It was the Louisiana Pizza Kitchen.

It's located just behind the French Market on Decatur. It's a wood fired oven and they had an incredible crust with all kinds of cool, unusual toppings.

Jeannie had alligator sausage on hers. Mine had pepperoni bacon!

Look at that delicious long strip of pepperoni bacon.

So good.

Can't tell you how much I enjoy being in New Orleans every Sunday.

A huge treat today. Beth, one of our producers from Chicago, was in Cozumel with another ship so we were able to meet up with her for lunch.

It was really great to see her and hang out with her for awhile.

After lunch we walked around for awhile.

Brett and Beth bought friendship bracelets with each others name on them.

We then ran into the cast from the Dawn. Our old friend Katy is in the cast.

It was great seeing her.

Fun day seeing friends in Cozumel!

Costa Maya...

I'm still depressed over the Bears game.  Such a disappointing lost.
We're really loving our new itinerary.  We're in Costa Maya today and are enjoying it immensely.  Internet celebrity Arnie Niekamp tipped us off to this great place off the beach called Nacional Beach Club.

It's a great place.  A nice breeze is flowing through here and we have great internet.
It's very picturesque.

You can sit in a little pool and drink your drinks.
It's just a really great place.
They also introduced us to this juice drink made from Chaya.

Chaya is a Mayan miracle plant that Mayan's ate to cure all that ailed them.

The drink was delicious.

On a side note, while I was watching the Bears game, a very nice person walked up and introduced himself.  His name was John and he said he read this blog and wanted to say hi.  I thought he was coming up to say he read my book or was an improvisor, but he only knew me from the blog.  He said he found the blog a few years ago while we were in Hawaii and has been reading it ever since.  He knew we were on the ship and figured that we would be watching the Bears game.  He introduced me to his partner, who was also super nice.  I think his name is Jobi, but Jeannie thinks it's Jovi.  I'll have to ask him when we see him again how it's spelled.  It was very funny because John knew Jeannie and Brett without me having to introduce them.  So funny and nice to meet them.  I have a great picture of the three of us, but it's on Jeannie's phone so I'll have to put it up later.  So great to meet someone who reads the blog!

We're still floating around.

Our schedule has solidified and we're now doing a 7 day cruise to Costa Maya, Belize, Honduras and then Cozumel.  We start and end every week in New Orleans.

A few weeks ago, Megan mentioned that she doesn't understand why boys like doing fantasy sports leagues.  So, I created a Fantasy league for the cast in NBA.

We had our draft yesterday.

Jeannie did all kinds of research.  You can see she's trying to hide her notes from Brett.  She had pages of notes that she took.  We did our draft in between the acts of our Murder Mystery.  Both Megan and Jeannie said they were super nervous and their hearts were racing.

It was a lot of fun.  The most notable events from the draft were Jeannie and Brett screaming when I drafted James Harden.  Jeannie yelling and slamming her hands on the table when Brett drafted her favorite player Joakim Noah.  Brett howling at the fact that with the second pick, Jeannie refused to draft LeBron James, Dwayne Wade or Kobe Bryant because she thinks they're jerks and instead drafted Rajon Rondo.  And, Megan slapping my pen out of my hand when I tried to draft KU alum, Kirk Henrich.

Again... it was super fun.

Today we're in New Orleans.

We probably should stop getting beignets every week.

Brett was pleased that he was able to be selected by the wandering waiters to get their order taken early.
After our breakfast, I walked around and enjoyed the French Quarter.  I just love this place.  Those balconies are so wonderful.

As I was walking around I saw a sign for an estate sale.  I've always wondered what those houses look like from the inside, so I wandered in.  It was incredibly cool.

Just such a fantastic place to live.  Here's the coach house in the back with a little pool.

So cool.

I stopped in to do update The Thursday Evening Movie Club podcast and download some TV.  Megan randomly walked into the same place.  As we were sitting here, a jazz band led a parade through the streets.  It was one of those things that you just don't happen to see in any other city.

Megan was very tickled.

Until I told her it was funeral.  She was still tickled, but tried to hide her smile.

New Orleans...

We're in in one of my all time favorite cities, New Orleans.

Love, love, love this place.

Jeannie and I got off the ship and ran into our Musical Director, Mark. We told him we were going to Cafe Du Monde and he decided to join us.

We met up with Megan and Brett and all five of us trekked over there. It was a bit of a line, but it was worth it.

Brett won the contest for the "messiest collection of powdered sugar beneath his seat".

Jeannie won the award for "messiest mouth".

We walked down through the French Quarter and listened to some great musicians. Jeannie especially loved this woman who was playing a fantastic clarinet.

That woman was amazing!

We then ran some errands and then Jeannie, Mark and I found a bar that was showing the Bears game. As you know by now, the Bears absolutely slaughtered the Titans. It was awesome.

Jeannie got a drink that had bacon in it.

It was a really great day. So glad we'll be here every Sunday for the next 10 weeks.
